A Celebration of Costa Rican Identity 🇨🇷
Every year, our Colección Típica becomes a space to reinterpret what it means to be Costa Rican — to celebrate our roots, our culture, and our creativity through design.
For 2025, the inspiration came from one of the country’s most captivating national symbols: the Morpho helenor butterfly. The intense, iridescent blue of its wings — full of movement and light — guided the entire creative process.
From Concept to Creation 🦋
This collection continues our tradition of blending couture craftsmanship with meaningful cultural storytelling, following the success of our Carreta Típica shirt in 2024.
From the very first sketches, I knew the design needed to capture the sense of motion that defines a butterfly’s wings. The challenge was to translate that feeling into fabric without being too literal.
The iridescent blue became the heart of the collection — connecting every piece, from the shirts to the shorts. A subtle wing pattern was integrated into the shirt’s design as a watermark-style motif, adding texture and depth. To complete the set, we created matching headbands — designed for comfort and to bring visual harmony to the entire outfit.
As with every Colección Típica, we worked with the national colours:
- Red, for the main version, evoking the traditional colour associated with Costa Rican sport kits.
- White, for a lighter, more elegant alternative that carries the same symbolic identity.
The iridescent effect was achieved by printing a blue gradient over glossy performance fabric, creating a play of light that shifts with movement — just like a butterfly’s wings. It took several tests to perfect the tone and reflection, but the final result was pure magic.
Handcrafted in Costa Rica 🪡
Every piece was handcrafted in our own atelier in Costa Rica — from pattern-making to final assembly.
We used our premium Laftech™ performance fabrics, which offer exceptional elasticity, freedom of movement, and lasting comfort. Key features include:

- Long-lasting colour retention, even after sun exposure and repeated washes🎾
Each garment is designed to perform on court, yet transition naturally into everyday life — what we like to call après sport style.

People have embraced it with enthusiasm, calling it a symbol of evolution and a reflection of my growth as a designer. It has also travelled far — purchased as a souvenir from Costa Rica by people around the world who want to take a piece of our identity with them.
