María Vega’s 2026 Blusa Típica is a celebration of the Guaria Morada.
Declared Costa Rica’s official national flower in 1939, the Guaria Morada (Guarianthe skinneri) is a cherished orchid deeply woven into the country’s history and folklore. Symbolising peace, harmony, and good fortune, its delicate purple blooms traditionally adorned the courtyards and clay roofs of Costa Rican homes.
To honour this cultural icon, we captured its elegance through subtle purple accents throughout the shirt and an intricate, watercolour-style print along the breathable mesh side panels—blending national heritage with modern performance design.
